Ear irrigation is a painless routine procedure for removing earwax. Ear irrigation (syringing) is carried out by using an electronic irrigator. The tip of the irrigator is inserted into the entrance of the ear and a warm flow of water enters helping to flush out the wax. This procedure works best when earwax is soft so it is important to follow any advice given prior to your appointment.

What a fab practice - from reception who raised my query with the GPs, arranged for me to email details through, and then to the GP (Dr Peck) calling me back the same day with a treatment plan, advice, and a prescription to collect. Real service and empathy.
I was very impressed by the staff in the private GP services and the service offered. They made sure my concerns were settled and approved all my terms therefore, I'd always consider and recommend this place.
The receptionist was lovely and helped me get an appointment the same afternoon. Staff were highly professional, polite and friendly. Dr was extremely engaged and didn’t feel rushed in my appointment, will definitely be booking again in the future.

Before attending your appointment 2-3 drops of Olive Oil must be applied to one or both ears if required at least three to four times daily for at least 5-7 days to help soften and loosen the wax prior to irrigation. The best way to apply this is by resting the side of your head on a pillow inserting the drops and lay for a few minutes so the Olive Oil penetrates the hardened wax. Wipe any excess oil away with a tissue and refrain from using cotton wool as this will soak the oil up. Repeat on the other side should both ears require irrigation. Olive Oil can be obtained over the counter from your local pharmacy. If you require more information then please do not hesitate to contact our Nurse prior to your appointment.
Appointments cost £40 for one or both ears.
It is advised to see a qualified professional for earwax removal but if you do still want to try and remove earwax at home it is important to do so safely. It is best to consult a GP or pharmacist before putting anything in your ear or removing earwax at home. Do not use cotton buds or anything that can push earwax further into the ear!
Clinical tests and vaccines are charged in addition to appointment times. No additional charge is made for the issue of private prescriptions or private sickness certificates if required within consultation. We are happy to complete any claim forms for referrals.
