What a fab practice - from reception who raised my query with the GPs,  arranged for me to email details through, and then to the GP (Dr Peck) calling me back the same day with a treatment plan, advice, and a prescription to collect.  Real service and empathy.

Services Provided by Sports Physiotherapists

Sports physiotherapists are important because they provide specialised care and support to athletes and other individuals who are at an increased risk of sports-related injuries. They can help to prevent injuries from occurring in the first place, as well as providing effective treatment and rehabilitation if an injury does occur.

How Can Sports Physiotherapy Help Me?

One of the key ways that sports physiotherapy can help with injury recovery is through the use of targeted exercises and techniques as part of a treatment plan. These can help to reduce pain and inflammation, improve mobility and flexibility, and strengthen the affected muscles and joints. This can speed up the recovery process and help to prevent further injuries.

Benefits of Physiotherapy

The advantages of physiotherapy include improved mobility and flexibility, reduced pain and inflammation, and faster recovery from injuries. Physiotherapy can also help to prevent further injuries by strengthening the muscles and improving posture and movement patterns.

The benefits of sports injury rehabilitation include faster recovery from injuries, improved performance and fitness levels, and a reduced risk of further injuries. Rehabilitation can also help to reduce the likelihood of chronic pain and other long-term effects of injuries.

Treatment Modalities

Types of treatment included in sports physiotherapy can vary depending on the specific injury and the needs of the individual. Common treatments may include exercises and stretches to improve mobility and flexibility, manual therapy techniques such as massage and joint mobilisation, and the use of electrical modalities such as ultrasound and TENS.

At Private GP Services, patients may be treated using our state of the art piezoelectric shock-wave therapy machine. This highly effective treatment modality is used by a handful of professional sports teams and accessed in a few clinical locations in the UK. Other treatments, such as acupuncture and dry needling, may also be used in some cases.

The specific treatments included in sports physiotherapy can vary depending on the individual and the specific injury or condition being treated. However, some common treatments that may be included in sports physiotherapy include:

Exercises and stretches: Sports physiotherapists may use a range of exercises and stretches to improve mobility and flexibility, reduce pain and inflammation, and strengthen the muscles and joints. These may include stretches for specific muscles or joints, as well as more general exercises to improve overall fitness and function.

Manual therapy techniques: Sports physiotherapists may use manual therapy techniques such as massage, joint mobilisation, and soft tissue release to improve mobility and reduce pain and inflammation. These techniques can help to improve the function of the affected muscles and joints, and can be an important part of the rehabilitation process.

Electrical modalities: Sports physiotherapists may use electrical modalities such as ultrasound, TENS and shockwave therapy to help with the treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. These modalities can help to reduce pain and inflammation, and can also be used to improve the function of the affected muscles and joints.

Acupuncture and dry needling: Some sports physiotherapists may also use acupuncture and dry needling as part of their treatment plan. These techniques involve the insertion of fine needles into the skin to stimulate specific points on the body. They can be effective for reducing pain and improving the function of the affected muscles and joints.

Overall, sports physiotherapy treatment may include a range of techniques and modalities, depending on the individual and the specific injury or condition being treated. The goal of sports physiotherapy is to help individuals recover from injuries and return to their previous level of activity as quickly and safely as possible.
