Fractures

Fractures to bone occur as a result of direct trauma i.e. an impact, or indirect trauma such as a fall on an outstretched hand. Once a fracture is confirmed, through clinical assessment and appropriate investigation. The prognosis of the injury is dependent on location of the bone, its function to load bearing and also type of fracture. Specialist Orthopaedic referral systems are in place at Private GP Services UK St Albans clinic for assessment, investigations and follow up when required.

Management of a fracture involves:

  • Promoting healing – may require a period of immobilisation
  • Reduce pain
  • Reduce swelling
  • Maintain strength of weakened muscles
  • Maintain mobility and range of movement of the surrounding joints
  • Encourage weight bearing through the bone when appropriate

What a fab practice - from reception who raised my query with the GPs,  arranged for me to email details through, and then to the GP (Dr Peck) calling me back the same day with a treatment plan, advice, and a prescription to collect.  Real service and empathy.

I was very impressed by the staff in the private GP services and the service offered. They made sure my concerns were settled and approved all my terms therefore, I'd always consider and recommend this place.

The receptionist was lovely and helped me get an appointment the same afternoon. Staff were highly professional, polite and friendly. Dr was extremely engaged and didn’t feel rushed in my appointment, will definitely be booking again in the future.
