If you have not already made an appointment for your flu vaccine this year, then it's definitely time to roll up your sleeves and get down here. Flu vaccine season is now well under way and we have already used a third of our supplies.
Like all vaccines, Flu vaccine is not fully effective for 2 to 3 weeks: your body has to have time to mount a response before you can consider yourself to have immunity. So, please do not wait until your friends and neighbours develop Flu before having a vaccine.
One of the most common tales we hear from patients is "I am not having a flu jab ever again doctor. I had one last year and came down with Flu the following week". Maybe you have had that experience too.
The explanation for this sequence of events is simple: you had the vaccine too late, and within the 2-3 weeks it takes for the vaccine to be effective you caught flu, before you had developed immunity.
Flu vaccine is a dead vaccine: the virus within the vaccine has been killed. Flu vaccine cannot cause flu any more than a dead dog could bite you!
Look after yourself this winter: Protect yourself from flu. At £25 it's a very sound investment.
Appointments are available every Monday to Friday, including late evenings and on some Saturdays.
