Things have never been busier at Private GP Services: the new additions to our admin and reception team have made for an even slicker service, and on line booking is proving popular with those patients who have given it a go.
If you are interested in on line booking to make appointments, please contact us : we will issue each patient with a PIN in order to make 15 minute appointments at our Springfield base at any time of the day or night! No need to wait all weekend to book an appointment for Monday! PIN numbers can either be issued in person or by post, although you may wish to request one by e mail via this web site.
As parents are increasingly aware that the NHS no longer offers BCG vaccination to young people at age 13, we are providing a steadily increasing number of vaccines. If you or your family members are planning overseas travel, voluntary work or a gap year, plan ahead! BCG vaccination needs to be given at least 3 months before potential risk exposure: BCG has not been offered for 3 years now though the NHS so if you have a family member aged 15 or younger then organising your BCG will be down to you. Give us a call and we will be happy to advise.
After a difficult few months with supplies, we now have ample mumps vaccines and have resumed a full vaccination service for those parents seeking separate measles mumps and rubella vaccines. The supply problems related to production difficulties in the USA and although the situation is now resolved a price rise resulted. Mumps vaccine costs a wopping £165: but at least its in stock again.
Parents may have read that the NHS plan to add chicken pox vaccine to the existing combined MMR vaccine later this year. For those parents who prefer single vaccines, a single chicken pox vaccine is readily available. Like measles, mumps and rubella it is a live virus vaccine, so is usually given 3 months after another live vaccine.
Remember to include the costs of important vaccines to your holiday budget: we often find patients surprised by the vaccine requirements for holidays booked and the cost of both injections and malaria prevention tablets. Excellent information is freely available at www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk to help you plan ahead and we are delighted to offer a full travel medicine service to meet the most complicated itinerary!
As the sun is finally beginning to shine, don't forget the sun screen and watch those moles. We are always happy to check out skin lesions which concern you. Feedback is very important to us: to enable our practice to grow and meet your needs. Please use our e mail address if you wish to comment on any aspect of the service we offer.
