Private GP Services at Springfield Hospital are now offering a sceening service for patients with moles using SIAscopy.
This is a non invasive, painless and rapid diagnostic tool, which in combination with visual inspection, offers accurate assessment as to whether any lesion requires further referral.
This technology involves a hand held scanner which beams light on to the lesion and analyses the resulting images for 5 different perameters : colour, melanin ,dermal, haemoglobin and collagen.
The resulting pictures are stored on our computer record system and can be printed and given to the patient if the assessment suggests referral is indicated.
